The Sylmar Charter High School Major Modernization Project includes the design and construction of new academic buildings, modernization of existing facilities, and demolition of select seismically assessed structures and relocatable classrooms. Interim facilities will be provided as needed during construction. The 30-acre campus houses Sylmar Charter High School, Sylmar Biotech Health & Engineering Magnet, Evergreen Continuation High School, and City of Angels Independent Study School, with 41 buildings and a planned future enrollment of 2,000 students. The project scope includes construction of a new 75,000 SF classroom building with shared spaces such as music rooms and a multipurpose room with a stage, dining facilities, and support areas like a student store and college center. Demolition will involve outdated classrooms, the cafeteria, and walkways, with upgrades to utilities, site lighting, and HVAC systems. The project also includes site-wide ADA compliance improvements, landscaping, and exterior painting of retained structures to enhance safety, accessibility, and campus functionality.
