As Kemp’s Chief Executive Officer, Greg provides direction and leadership to the entire organization. He is a hands-on owner, actively involved in all aspects of the firm’s operation. Greg is not a micro-manager, but instead, he empowers his employees to do their jobs. He promotes an open-door policy, encouraging communication and professional improvement among all team members. Greg joined Kemp in 1982, working for his father. Applying his natural leadership instincts and problem-solving skills, Greg worked his way up through the engineering and project management ranks. Managing Kemp’s aerospace, entertainment, education, healthcare and transportation clients, Greg developed a broad range of business experiences. Since his father’s retirement in 1994, Greg has led Kemp as an executive with several partners. He is now the company’s sole owner. Kemp’s corporate culture reflects Greg’s priorities as a business leader. He takes great pride in the firm’s achievements and provides Kemp team members with every resource available to make them successful. Greg is an entrepreneur and family man who insists all employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. He believes in giving back to the communities Kemp serves and he’s a patriotic American.
As Kemp’s Chief Financial Officer, Darren oversees all financial aspects of the company’s business operation and is committed to the long term financial stability of the firm. He is a qualified and experienced professional who manages Kemp’s bonding, banking and insurance partner relationships. He assists Kemp’s project managers with project budgets and manages our general accounting department in all areas. Darren earned his Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting and Finance from Cal State Fullerton in 1993 and began his financial management career as an Audit Manager. Five years later he transitioned into commercial construction, working as Vice President of Accounting and Finance for a national fire protection subcontractor. Prior to joining Kemp in 2015, he served 10 years as Chief Financial Officer at another local construction company. Darren has been recognized for his steady leadership and solid business insight. He is an excellent listener, communicator and problem solver. He is enthusiastic about the work Kemp performs and always maintains a “people first“ attitude.
As Office Manager for Kemp, Judy oversees and administers all of our internal business operations. In 2004, Judy joined Kemp as an Office Manager and quickly took over the responsibilities of a company-wide Manager. Since then, her professional computer programming and technology background, along with her boundless organizational energy, has transformed Kemp into a highly productive and efficient administrative machine. Through many years of dedicated service to Kemp and our family of office and field team members, Judy has demonstrated an uncanny ability to anticipate procedural problems and resolve administrative issues. She is expert at implementing processes that allow the company to run more efficiently. She has made valuable improvements to all of Kemp’s internal operations and systematic processes. With Judy as Office Manager, there is never a dull moment at Kemp. She is fully committed to the organization, the coordination of company events, our charitable functions, Kemp’s owner and team members, and furthering the Kemp culture of teamwork and constant improvement. In many ways, her “We’ll get it done“ attitude positively influences Kemp’s entire operation.
As Vice President, Mark works to ensure Kemp’s continued business success. Coordinating with our estimating and operations teams, Mark implements specific qualifying and capture strategies that have enabled Kemp to serve a wider range of clients using multiple contract delivery methods. In broadening Kemp’s reach into Design-Build teaming and CM-Construction Management, Kemp has moved beyond the strictly hard-bid markets to access a variety of better building opportunities. Kemp’s primary service sectors of Education, Healthcare, Municipal Government and Transportation are active with funded construction opportunities. Through Mark’s insight and leadership, Kemp has improved its project win ratio, increased its annual volume and enhanced its backlog. However, Mark still monitors the commercial construction markets daily to anticipate the changing flow of future projects, and to position Kemp to source and secure its share of desired contracts. Prior to his 20 year focus on commercial construction, Mark worked in commercial real estate, investment and development. He earned a Master of Real Estate Development degree from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University.
As Vice President of Field Operations for Kemp, Adrian provides oversight, guidance and direction to all our project teams. He leads by example, organizing and directing Kemp’s monthly superintendent and safety meetings. Adrian brings experienced leadership to our field staff and he demands urgency and production expertise from all our project team members. Adrian is Kemp’s top field construction professional and he has successfully completed projects in all the market sectors we serve. Adrian is actively involved with managing day-to-day construction production activities, including coordinating and tracking Kemp’s direct labor forces, monitoring project budgets and adhering to project schedule requirements. Adrian’s tasked with ensuring that Kemp’s “first rate” brand of professional construction service is achieved on every job site. Adrian began his construction career in 1980 working as an Apprentice Carpenter. He worked his way up through the field and joined Kemp as a superintendent in 1999. Adrian was promoted to General Superintendent in 2013 after he consistently demonstrated his ability to getting our projects done right. His discipline, enthusiasm and the sense of urgency he brings to our job sites are qualities that make him a respected and well-liked leader.
As Chief Operating Officer for Kemp, Chris oversees the project management teams and field operations on selected projects. Chris has wide ranging experience serving public and private sector clients. During his 20-year construction career, Chris has served in almost every operational capacity, from project engineering and management, to operations supervisor and project executive roles. Chris mentors all Kemp’s team members to ensure the quality and consistency of their work. His depth of knowledge and experience results from working in all areas of commercial construction including marketing, estimating, scheduling, design team coordination, field construction and project management. He is the kind of smart, steady and committed business manager you want leading your construction project teams. Since joining Kemp in 2018, Chris has provided oversight, direction and leadership on some of Kemp’s largest and most complex Education Sector projects. Chris earned a Master of Business Administration in International Business degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University.
Lui Cevallos has been an integral contributor to Kemp’s construction successes on the above list of projects. He is a 23-year Kemp employee who fully understands the construction expectations and works to exceed those expectations on the projects he is assigned to manage. As Project Executive for Kemp, Lui provides executive oversight during preconstruction and construction, making sure that the project-specific workplan and scheduling are all accomplished to meet the owner’s needs. He mentors and leads the Project Managers and Project Engineers on the jobsite to ensure consistency and adherence to the projects’ processes and procedures. Lui ensures that Kemp’s onsite management team has all the resources to successfully deliver the project. Lui earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Claremont McKenna College.
As Project Executive for Kemp, Nigel provides executive oversight during preconstruction and construction, making sure that the project-specific work plan and scheduling are all accomplished to meet the owner’s needs. He mentors and leads the Project Managers and Project Engineers on the jobsite to ensure consistency and adherence to the projects processes and procedures. Nigel ensures that Kemp’s onsite management team has all the resources to successfully deliver the project. In 2003, Nigel joined Kemp as a Project Manager and quickly took over the responsibilities of the Project Executive. Nigel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Florida International University, Miami, Florida
As Kemp’s Chief Estimator and Director of Preconstruction, Stan is responsible for managing our estimating and preconstruction process. Since joining Kemp in 2012, he has helped develop computerized systems in our estimating procedures. Stan has worked to introduce specific design-build methods and LEAN construction techniques within Kemp’s operation. He works closely with our business development and marketing teams to prepare price and service proposals for our clients. Stan excels in Kemp’s family-oriented construction environment, where everyone is part of the business team. In his leadership role, Stan oversees all our estimating efforts including our preparation of initial bid packages. He assigns estimating job captains for each bidding project and implements risk assessment protocols and strategies for all our bids. Stan began his construction career in 1983 as Carpenter/Foreman for a Chicago based general contractor. In 1994, he became a Project Manager and was eventually promoted to construction Vice President. In 2004 he left Chicago for a Project Executive role in Michigan. Eventually Stan made his way to Southern California where he joined Kemp.
