The Glendale Central Library project was a seismic renovation of an existing 90,000 SF, two-story concrete building with complete central plant upgrade and replacement. Scope of work consisted of complete interior remodeling, partial exterior façade replacement, seismic upgrades with installation of structural shear walls and fiber-wrap beam connections to strengthening systems, complete re-roofing and hardscape site improvements. This project also provided accessibility A.D.A upgrades, landscape improvements, new north plaza entrance, new (gurney) elevator installation and a new grand staircase to the second floor. Structural concrete improvements were required at all levels including the full services and delivery basement. Extra care was taken to preserve, relocate and reinstall the “culturally significant/vintage” man-sized, acrylic wall clock.
